FORT SCOTT, Kan. — The Pittsburg Post 64 Junior Silverbacks struggled during most of their game and took a 5-2 loss Friday afternoon against E3 Baseball at the LaRoche Baseball Complex.

Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Post 64 second baseman Tate Renn engineered a one-man, two-out rally for the Silverbacks’ first run of the game. Renn found the left-center gap and ran 270 feet safely for a standup triple. Renn then scored on a passed ball.

The Silverbacks generated their other run in the seventh trailing 5-1. With one down, Gage King singled and then pinch runner Luke Jones stole second and scored on an E3 error.

Post 64 reliever Mic Muller came on during a tough spot in the sixth with two runners on and one down. The Tigers already scored twice in the inning with RBI singles against Post 64 reliever Quinton Bruning.

Bruning pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief before surrendering two runs in the sixth.

Muller struck out five in a row to end the game on a high note for the Silverbacks, fanning both he faced in the sixth and the side in the seventh.

The Silverbacks played a second game Friday and then have games Saturday against Kansas Curve West at 1:30 p.m. and Ozark at 6 p.m. at Lions Field on the campus of Fort Scott Community College.
